Alleged train driver right after deadly crash in Spain

The driver of a train that came off the rails and killed at least 80 people in Spain has been named as Francisco Jose Garzon. He was under police guard in hospital on the Friday after the accident, which an official source said was caused by excessive speed. The eight-carriage train came off the tracks, hit a wall and caught fire just outside the pilgrimage destination Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain on Wednesday night. It was one of Europe's worst rail disasters.

State train company Renfe said the driver was a 30-year veteran of the firm with more than a decade of train driving experience. He had been driving trains on this line for about a year, the firm said. Report by Genelle Aldred.

Google's Chromecast: Web-to-TV Devices by Google

Google today announced a new Internet-to-television device called Chromecast, a well-developed area of technology that doesn't really need another gizmo. With Apple TV, Roku and Boxee all providing solutions to turn a regular old HDTV into an Internet-capable TV, you might be thinking that the Chromecast is an also-ran before it's even been released.

Yet Chromecast, as it's called, has the techies all giddy. A few of them said they already went on over to the Play store and bought one — before Google had even finished up its event. The general upshot of the stick is that it ports the television on your computer or smartphone — like Netflix, or YouTube — to your television. A lot of devices can already do this for you. So what makes this thing any different or better than all the others?
It's dirt cheap. The stick only costs $35. Roku's similar dongle-type streamer retails for $100. There's a huge mental difference between $100 and $35. It's easy to splurge on something that costs less than an Urban Outfitters shirt. In addition, Netflix users — new and existing — get three months of the streaming service free, essentially paying for most of the stick. (Three months of streaming costs, at minimum $24.)
It's teeny tiny. Most of these magic TV things come in box form. This is just a stick that goes into an HDMI port. There's also zero set-up. It just plugs in, you hook it up to your Wi-Fi and you tap a small button in compatible apps or the Chrome browser, and like magic it pushes that stuff to your TV.
It Has More Content Than Meets the Eye. The official Google partnerships don't amount to more than, say, Roku has on its box. The stick officially works with YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play Movies and TV. But there's a secret trick for getting all other web streaming services — like HBO GO (!) — from laptop to computer: Chrome tab projection. Per the demo, any tab open on the Chrome browser will play on the television. So, the HBO GO app might not work, but the desktop version will. Sure a computer connected by HDMI can do that, too. But this is a lot easier, smaller, and does a lot more (and again, no wires). Google has almost made available a software kit that will allow developers to add the functionality to their apps, meaning that, if the Chromecast catches on, you'll be able to beam video from any smartphone or tablet app directly to your television.
It Works with a Lot of Phones. This works on both Android and iOS, meaning you can swap out phones or tablets or computers with different subscription services, or movies downloaded. It opens up a lot more content, and if you're making the switch from iOS to Android, you aren't stuck with a box that can't stream your smartphone content, like you would be with Apple TV.
It Turns (Almost) Every TV into a Smart TV. Any television with an HDMI port — so probably not that old clunker you bought on Craigslist — turns into a "smart" TV, with your phone or tablet or laptop as the remote control, allowing you to play videos, control volume, or even turn on the TV.
The whole thing makes watching TV from your phone or computer seamless and at $35 people who watch a lot of streaming TV from Netflix have almost no reason to buy it. Without the Chrome tab projection thing the whole offering gets a little less enticing. But at least for now it looks like a more elegant way to connect HDMI to multiple devices by just plugging in.

High-speed train has derailed in Spain killed 77(CCTV Footage)

A high-speed train has derailed outside Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain, leaving at least 77 people dead and 130 injured, reports AFP. Spanish authorities have warned the death toll may rise.

The train, which reportedly had 240 people on board, was en route between Madrid and Ferrol. According to media reports, 13 cars derailed – at least four of which caught fire.

Reuters is reporting 130 people injured.

There were rumors of a terrorist attack, but the Ministry of the Interior has now ruled out the possibility. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is due to visit the scene of the accident, a government spokeswoman told Reuters.

"In the face of a tragedy such as just happened in Santiago de Compostela on the eve of its big day, I can only express my deepest sympathy as a Spaniard and a Galician," Rajoy said in a statement.

Sergio, a witness, told La Voz de Galicia that "I did not suspect an attack of any sort. When the train took the curve, I had the sensation that it was traveling too fast, and then it derailed."

It has subsequently been ruled that the train was traveling at twice the speed limit. Alvia trains can reach a speed of 250 kilometers per hour while traveling on high speed rails, though they typically travel at 220 kilometers per hour over normal lines.

Renfe, the company which operates the train, has confirmed that the incident is the most serious train crash to happen in Spain in over 40 years. Furthermore, it is the first time a high-speed train has derailed in the country.

There were reports of bodies scattered around the scene covered in blankets, as emergency services perform their work.

"Neighbors in the area tell Spanish and European media they heard 'an explosion' at the time of derailment", said Actualidad.

"The wounded are being transferred to nearby hospitals in Galicia from the Clinical Hospital in Santiago as it has exceeded capacity", according to the Cadena SER radio station.

La Voz de Galicia was relaying accounts from the train's passengers, which claim that one of the cars went up into the air and literally flew over the wall that runs along the train tracks, landing on a road.

According to RTVE, celebrations for the region's most important holiday, the dia de Santiago - which is on Thursday - have been cancelled.

Below is Spanish media's video of the immediate aftermath.

The tragic Bus accident Video in Somalia

This tragic accident was happened in Somalia.

The bus was fully loaded and the people who watched this accident helped to rescue people.
Because of that only two people died in the accident.

Please read the comment written by the photographer

The next thing a bus attempted the crossing.

Jana was yelling at me to take a picture and I was trying to get the camera onto video mode. What happened next was a disaster. The bus got about 3/4 of the way across, but the current was too strong, and it slid towards the lower edge of the road. At this point people started screaming. There was a drop of about 1m from road to river, and as the bus went in it turned on its roof.

Taliban Planing to shoot Mala Again by Calling her to Pakistan

A Taliban commander has written to Pakistani girl activist Malala Yousafzai, saying he regretted her shooting last year by militants and urging her to come home.
Yousafzai, now 16, was shot at close range by Taliban gunmen in October as she left school in Swat Valley in northwestern Pakistan. She was flown to Britain for treatment and has not returned since due to persistent Taliban threats against her.
On July 12, she addressed the world in an electrifying speech at the United Nations in which she said the pen was mightier than the sword.
In a fiery, densely written letter packed with references to philosophers and politicians, commander Adnan Rasheed said he wished he could have told her to "refrain from anti-Taliban activities" to prevent the attack.
"My all emotions were brotherly for you because we belong to same Yousafzai tribe," he wrote in the English-language letter dated July 15 and confirmed as authentic by the Taliban.
"When you were attacked it was shocking for me. I wished it would never happened and I had advised you before."
"At the end I advise you to come back home," Rasheed wrote, adding that she should join a female Islamic school and "use your pen for Islam".
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt on Yousafzai. Two of her classmates were also wounded.
She was treated in Pakistan before the United Arab Emirates provided an air ambulance to fly her to Britain, where doctors mended parts of her skull with a titanium plate.
Rasheed, a former Pakistan Air Force officer once jailed for trying to assassinate General Pervez Musharraf, denied the Taliban had attacked her because of her campaign against Taliban efforts to deny girls education.
"Please mind that Taliban or Mujahideen are not against the education of any men or women or girl," he wrote in his letter, which reads like a lecture to Malala.
"Taliban believe that you were intentionally writing against them and running a smearing campaign to malign their efforts to establish Islamic system in Swat and your writings were provocative."
In the four-page letter, he goes on to accuse the West of imposing its standards on other nations and attacks figures including U.S. President Barack Obama and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, as well as the English and Jews.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall Leaks the Royal babies arriaval Date

The Duchess of Cornwall has let slip that the royal baby will be born this week [PA]
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has let slip that the royal baby should be with us 'by the end of the week'.
The 65-year-old spilled the beans during the annual royal summer tour of Devon and Cornwall with husband (and soon-to-be new grandfather) Prince Charles yesterday.
Locals came out to see the royal pair in the gorgeous sunshine and talk quickly turned to the imminent arrival of the royal baby.
Kate Middleton was reportedly due to give birth on Saturday (July 13) but like many first-time babies, the new prince or princess is overdue.
While the nation awaits news of the newest member of the royal family, Camilla admitted that they are just as clueless as the rest of us.

"We don't know what's going to happen. We're all waiting at the end of a telephone," she said during a visit to a children's hospice yesterday.
"I hope by the end of the week he or she will be there."
It's not just William's side of the family that have been speculating over the bundle of joy.
Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith has revealed that he hopes the Duke and Duchess have a baby girl, as she would be the first monarch to benefit from the new law passed by our current Queen.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are just days away from becoming new parents
The Succession to the Crown Act 2013 states that for the first time in over 300 years, if the first born child of the heir apparent is a girl, she will become queen even if she has a younger brother.
"My suspicion is that they’re having a baby girl," he told The Mirror.
“It would be brilliant, wouldn’t it, if they do have a little girl? To have one of my family, my niece, making history will be absolutely unbelievable.”

How Kate and William’s Life will change after the new Royal Baby arrive

Just because Kate Middleton and Prince William will have someone else to do night feeds when the royal baby arrives, the actual Queen to babysit and a person whose sole job it is to remove all signs of baby vomit from their home*, it doesn’t mean they’re not going to find this parenting business hard.
1. You know how you used to talk about fashion, and politics, and books, and food and holidays? Yeah, now you talk about poo.
2. Kate, just give in to temptation and taste your own breast milk. Wills, just give in to temptation and taste Kate’s breast milk.
3. It's obligatory to tell NCT friends that your baby is 'sleeping through the night' by the time they are three months old. If they are not sleeping through the night by the time they are three months old, then there is one thing for it, and that is to tell yourself that midnight until 3am is ‘the night’ and LIE.
4. All hideous baby outfits bought by well-wishers must be worn and photographed, so you have proof that they were used before you take them down to the charity shop.
Kate Middleton, we've even found time for you to straighten your hair5. You will never again eat wholegrain mustard. It’s best if we don’t go into why.
6. The girl who seems a tiny bit too friendly at NCT has the potential to be your stalker for the next 18 years, so bear that in mind when you invite her round for coffee.

7. Eco-friendly? Not any more, you’re not. Yes, that is the tumble dryer on again.
8. You know the old expression; when your baby’s sleeping, you should be straightening your hair? OK, fine, it’s not an old expression, but it is a true expression. It’s the only time you’ll get to do it, Kate, and you have a lot of hair so stop reading this and plug in those GHDs.
9. You know how you were worried about the colour of the changing mat cover? It’s going to be wee-coloured, anyway, so don’t stress about it.
11. Put Dairy Milks/ Duchy’s Originals nearby for when you’re breastfeeding because sudden movements will wake the baby up, and you are going to need to mainline chocolate.
12. Same applies for the TV remote, and pre-records of TOWIE/ Hollyoaks/ anything else on TV you previously thought was rubbish.
13. No-one likes a baby bore, so do remember to ask people about their own lives too. Something like “Been to any good parties lately, Harry?” or “What’s that pesky husband of yours been up to now, Zara?” should lead to a fun, lively chat.

What does it mean to be co-dependent in a relationship ?

People say we're co-dependent but we just want to be together all the time,” Kelly told HELLO! magazine.

We spoke to relationship expert Kate Taylor,

What does it mean to be co-dependent in a relationship?

“It doesn’t mean you just want to be together all the time,” Kate explained.

Instead, she told us that being co-dependent means putting your partner’s interests before your own.
“Co-dependency is where one person in a relationship takes on the caretaker role, looking after their partner to a degree that actually interferes with their own life."

This means ignoring what’s best for yourself and only doing what’s important for your other half.

She continued: “A co-dependent person will neglect their own ambitions, interests, goals, opinions, friends, money and self-interest in favour of doing what they believe is best for their partner.”

Kelly Osbourne and Matthew Mosshart have been together since July 2011 [Rex]Is it healthy to be co-dependent?

Kate added that it’s normal for people – particularly women – to look after their partners, but it becomes co-dependency when you put their interests ahead of your own.

“I think many people (especially females, but not exclusively) have a tendency to nurture their partners. This is normal – and nice!” she reassured us.

“Where it becomes co-dependency – and thereby not particularly healthy – is where taking care of a partner takes precedence over taking care of themselves.”

Kate also hinted that perhaps Kelly has inherited co-dependency traits from her mother Sharon, who put her career on hold for husband Ozzy.
“I think it’s interesting that Kelly says people call her co-dependent, as we could speculate that her mother Sharon’s relationship with Ozzy has co-dependent traits,” she suggested.

“Sharon gave up her own career to become Ozzy’s manager, and has had to become the head of the household due to Ozzy’s poor health.”

Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy have co-dependency traits, according to Kate [Rex]What impact does co-dependency have on a relationship?

Being co-dependent as a couple can have negative effects on your relationship, according to Kate.

“It blurs the boundaries – taking care of a partner can lead to your taking on their opinions too, for example,” she said.

You may end up feeling like you can’t make a decision on your own – while your partner may start to feel resentful towards you controlling their life.

“You can’t make an independent decision or choice - you run everything through your partner’s filter and choose what would be best for them,” she explained.

“You submerge your own individuality. Your partner may feel controlled and resentful.”

What advice would you give to couples who think they are co-dependent?

The first thing to do is identify whether you are a co-dependent couple – or just happily in love.

“Don’t rush to assume you’re co-dependent if you simply love being together all the time! That’s not co-dependency, that’s being in love,” she explained.

And if you’re placing your partner’s interests ahead of your own but you both still benefit, that’s not co-dependency and you shouldn’t be concerned.
“Some couples take turns in the relationship for the sake of both of them achieving their dreams – for example one person might work in a job they don’t like while the other finishes a longed-for college degree,” she said.

But if you realise that your own life is being swept under the carpet, it’s important to take the necessary steps to fix your relationship, she told us.

“Ask yourself why you’ve placed your partner higher on the ladder: is it a natural step?” she advised.

“Are you scared they can’t cope without you? Is it easier to focus on their dreams rather than your own? Are you avoiding something? Or are you simply suffering from low self-esteem?”

If you’re having trouble coming to terms with your relationship issues, Kate recommends seeing a counsellor to work through your problems and help you to find  the way into a healthier dynamic.

Are you co-dependent on a partner

Flesh-Eating Maggots In Ear: Briton's Horror

A British horror flesh earing maggots in ear, we never come up like this in the recent history. Read this article.
A British woman said she "burst into tears" when doctors told her she had flesh-eating maggots living in her ear after a trip to Peru.

Rochelle Harris, 27, had started having severe headaches as she returned to UK following her visit to the South American country with her boyfriend.

She developed sharp shooting pains down one side of her face and also began to hear strange scratching sounds in her head.

She woke up the next morning to find her pillow soaked in fluid.

Ms Harris went to A&E in Derby and doctors thought it could be a minor ear infection but she was referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) team.

The ENT specialist found a small hole in the ear canal and then discovered the maggots.

She explained: "Mum asked her 'Can you see what it is?' and the doctor said 'If you don't mind I'd prefer to speak to the registrar before I tell you anything"'.

"My mum said 'Please tell us' and that's when the doctor said 'You've got maggots in your ear'. I burst into tears instantly."

Ms Harris added: "I was very scared - I wondered if they were in my brain. I thought to myself 'This could be very, very serious.'"

An emergency brain scan showed no damage had been done to her ear drum, blood vessels or facial nerve.

But the medics did find that the maggots had chewed a 12mm hole in her ear canal.

They tried to drown them by flooding the canal with olive oil but they survived and experts managed to remove two.

However, a further examination discovered eight maggots.

They were sent to a laboratory for analysis and it was discovered that a New World screwworm fly had laid eggs inside her ear.

Ms Harris said she remembered walking through a swarm of flies when in Peru and a fly had got inside her ear. But once she had shooed it away she thought nothing more of it.

The Briton, who is not expected to suffer any long-term problems, said: "I just wanted them out of me and now I knew what was causing the sensations and sounds it made it all the worse.

"I'm no longer as squeamish as I was about bugs - how can you be when they've been inside your head?"

Her story features on a new Discovery Channel documentary called Bugs, Bites And Parasites.

Kate Moss' body isn't always bikini ready either

KATE Moss has given women everywhere a glimmer of hope - by revealing her body isn't always perfectly toned either.
The supermodel, whose figure has been the envy of millions of women around the world for years, showed off a slightly curvier frame than normal as she lazed by the pool in Italy last week.
Wearing a leopard-print bikini, Kate was seen sporting a bigger belly than usual.
Kate Moss is said to be worried about her 'flabby' bum and thighs
Even Kate's not perfect ... Moss is said to be worried about her 'flabby' bum and thighs

And the 39-year-old's bum and thighs looked in need of a teeny bit of toning up.
A relaxed Kate couldn't seem to care less about her appearance as she happily sunbathed topless beside hubby Jamie Hince on their break to Portofino.
Like the rest of us, the mum-of-one also appeared to have well and truly forgotten any pre-holiday diet.
Kate Moss indulges in a glass of wine during sunshine break

She was snapped guzzling down a large glass of white wine by the pool and tucking into a fatty pizza with Jamie as they celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
But despite appearing to be completely unfazed by her changing shape, a source close to the star has claimed that she is in fact struggling with several body hang-ups.
And they added that Kate, who is mum to Lila, ten, is finding it hard to maintain her model looks as she approaches 40.
Kate Moss appeared not to have any body hang-ups as she sunbathed topless in Italy

The pal told Closer magazine: "Kate's lucky she's naturally thin, but she turns 40 next January and feels that, while slim, she's not as firm and toned as she used to be."
The friend added that while Kate wants to stay in shape, she hates going to the gym.
They continued: "She thinks exercise is boring and says she's 'too lazy for the gym'.
Kate Moss looked more toned in December 2012

"She'll sometimes do yoga or Pilates twice a week in the run-up to summer, but she'd rather slim down on a diet than spend hours on a treadmill.
"When Kate has a big shoot or an appearance coming up, she'll juice for three days and can usually drop half a stone and see her stomach flatten.
"She's noticed a bit of drooping and thinks her thighs and bum are a little flabby."

Man bitten on PENIS by snake while loo

An Israeli man is recovering in hospital after he was bitten on the penis by a snake that had been hiding in his toilet.
The 35-year-old was taking a leak in the bathroom at his home in Haifa when the reptile leaped up from inside the loo and sank its teeth into his todger.
The man reported feeling an intense burning sensation, before he looked down and saw the creature chomping down on his old chap.
After shaking the snake free, he called an ambulance which rushed him to the nearby Rambam Medical Centre.
Doctors examined the bite and quickly determined the snake wasn't poisonous.
A hospital spokesperson said: "The man is currently under observation pending additional test results and as soon as we get the results, he will be able to go home."

Nicole Kidman is honoured for her charity work in Germany

She has a talent for wearing just the right thing for almost every event.

And Nicole Kidman demonstrated her time tested red carpet savvy as she arrived in an elegant grey gown to the Peace For Cinema event in Berlin, Germany, on Friday.
The 46-year-old was being honoured by the foundation, along with UN dignitary Lakshmi Puri, for her work to better the lives of women around the world.

The Academy Award winning actress donned white high heeled pumps, elevating her already impressive 5ft11 frame, as she posed with Ms. Puri.

Framing her face were long soft pink tear drop earrings, matching the hue of her lip gloss.
With her straw-coloured tresses tied back into a ponytail, Kidman nicely complimented her porcelain complexion with the aforementioned silver dress encrusted with small rhinestones.

Ms. Puri, for her part, was equally elegant in a royal blue sari with gold accents.
The philanthropist and the bureaucrat were clearly dressed with the intent to promote their various UN based projects.
Nicole is currently the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, charged with promoting the rights of women worldwide.

The actress' focus is on ending violence against women and has been an active voice in bringing attention to human rights violations the world over.
According to UN Women, Kidman has previously said of her role with the UN: 'I have learned much about the horrific scope of violence against women around the world and seen its devastating impact.
'When I first learned that one in three women and girls experience violence in their lifetime, I was utterly shocked. Much of my work for UN Women has since been dedicated to this issue'.
Cinema For Peace, which describes itself as 'the Oscars with brains', is also honouring Ms. Puri for her work as the UN Women Acting Head.
Of her work, Ms. Puri has explained: 'There is so much to do. Right now, we are looking to Egypt where UN Women has supported women since the early stages of the democratic transition.
'At this crucial juncture, women must be part of a peaceful and democratic dialogue to determine the country’s future,”

Adding: 'In Syria, too, women must fully take part in the mediation and reconciliation process. UN Women is an advocate and supporter of women there so this can happen.'
Also attending the event was Bianca Jagger, who made her name as both social and human rights advocate and as an actress and model.
Auma Obama, half sister of the US president, made an appearance as well.

The real World Terminator: Most advanced robot ever is able to walk through battlefields

At 6ft 2in tall and weighing 330lb Atlas is a formidable figure. And with 28 hydraulically actuated joints and stereo vision, it is one of the most advanced robots ever.
Although the robot, designed by DARPA and Boston Dynamics, is built to help respond to disasters, such as the Fukushima nuclear reactor meltdown in Japan in 2011, it looks like it could easily star in the Terminator films.
Its potential use in war seems more likely considering the team behind it also designed BigDog, the robotic dog due to be used by the Marines.

The robot's 28 hydraulic joints can replicate most human moves and its hands, provided by iRobot and Sandia National Labs, can surpass them.
A light-based radar stereo camera in Atlas is the same detection system used by autonomous vehicles such as Google's self-driving car, according to ExtremeTech.
Although it is currently linked to an external power supply the robot has the ability to run off its own power, leaving it free to roam.
This ability will be useful when considering the robot's main purpose.
Atlas has been designed to be able to go into disaster zones where it would be unsafe to send people. It can handle rocky terrain and the flexibility of its hands will aid rescues.
However, its skills could just as easily be put to use on the battlefield, where they would be stronger and more accurate than a soldier.

The only thing the robot is currently missing is a brain, but more than a dozen teams of engineers are preparing to compete for the chance to provide it.
At the DARPA Robotics Challenge, each team will load software into Atlas and test it in a series of disaster response trials.
The team that provides the best software will receive funding from DARPA and the chance to compete in the finals of the contest next year, with a $2 million prize fund.

5 year old Palestinian Arrested by Israel's police for Throwing a stone to a dog

Israel's IDF doing what they do best.. harassing people under occupation.

Child suspected of throwing stones near Hebron detained by IDF, transferred to Palestinian Police. Father claims to have been beaten by soldiers. Watch B'Tselem's video

IDF soldiers have detained a 5-year-old Palestinian boy Tuesday for allegedly throwing a stone at a settler's car in a checkpoint near Hebron's Tomb of the Patriarchs. After the incident, the boy was taken into an IDF jeep and taken to his parents' house, where his father joined them. The soldiers took the father and son to an IDF base, from which they were eventually transferred to a Palestinian police station. B'Tselem released a video capturing the moments of his apprehension.

"I received a call at work and was told that the boy was at home under arrest," the boy's father said. "I arrived home and found him hiding in a closet shaking from fear."
According to the father, he told the soldiers that "even if the boy had thrown a stone, he is only a child and I will take care of it himself."

But the boy and his father were taken to an army base where the father was handcuffed and blindfolded. According to him, he was beaten while they were at the base, and then the two were transferred into the custody of Palestinian police.

While waiting at the checkpoint for the Palestinian Police, a high ranking army official, apparently from the District Coordination and Liaison (DCL) Command, arrived and began talking with the soldiers.

In the video he can be overheard saying (in Hebrew) that "all of the activities in terms of hasbara cause damage," apparently referencing the detention of a 5-year-old in general and the embarrassment such an incident could cause Israel in terms of public relations.

Then the soldiers can be seen untying the father and removing his blindfold. Afterwards he and his 5-year-old son are transferred into the custody of a Palestinian Police officer.

At the Palestinian police station: "They just asked us questions and eventually fined us for 5,000 dinar (roughly $7,000) for the kid's rock throwing," the father repeated.

Like in Israel, the minimum age of criminal liability in the military legal system in the West Bank is 12. This means that the arrest or detention of youths under that age is forbidden, even if they are suspected of perpetrating a criminal offense.

In her letter to the IDF's Legal Adviser to Judea and Samaria, B'Tselem Director Jessica Montell claimed: "The footage clearly shows that this was not a mistake made by an individual soldier, but rather conduct that was considered reasonable by all the military personnel involved. It is particularly troubling that none of them apparently thought any part of the incident wad problematic: Not the fact that they scared a five-year-old boy out of his wits, nor threatening him and his parents to 'hand him over', nor threatening to arrest the father on no legal grounds, nor handcuffing and blindfolding the father in front of his son.

Six future technologies

Garmin Smartphone HUD

In-car GPS navigation requires one to constantly look at a small screen and away from the road in front of you. Garmin offers a head-up display or HUD for US$ 130. While HUD technology is not entirely new (it's commonplace in fighter jets), with Garmin's system, you can install a HUD in any car within a few minutes.

The system projects bright, single-colour directions onto a transparent film on the windscreen - directly into your field of view. It's compatible with Bluetooth smartphones running Garmin's StreetPilot app.

Telescopic Contact Lenses

Researchers at the University of California, San Diego and Switzerland's EPFL have jointly developed a type of contact lens that can switch between normal and magnified vision.

The lenses can magnify what you see by up to 2.8 times. The contact lens itself is quite thick (1.17mm in the magnifying area) and has to be used in conjunction with a special set of spectacles to achieve the magnification.

Body Torch

Ann Makosinski, a class 10 Google Science Fair finalist, has developed an LED flashlight powered by the warmth of the user's hands. The concept uses Peltier plates to create what is essentially a thermo-electric device. The Peltier plates produce electricity when heated on one side and cooled on the other — the heat here being supplied by the human hand.

The electricity generated is stored and can be used to power the LEDs for up to 20 minutes. Since Peltier plates rely on temperature differential, it works better in colder climates.

Squito - Throwable Panoramic Camera

Boston-based inventor Steve Hollinger has designed (and patented) the Squito — a ball-shaped device that houses three high-speed cameras and multiple sensors.

Throw the camera up in the air and the device uses information from the sensors to stitch together images/videos captured by the camera. It has a built-in image stabilisation and at the end of its flight, it wirelessly transmits the footage to your computer.

Solar Powered Laptop

WeWi, a UK-based company, has announced that it plans to sell a laptop that is solely powered by the sun. The company's founders came up with the idea while visiting Ghana, where electricity is scarce. The Sol is powered by Linux and uses regular computer components but houses its own solar panels that fold out to harness the sun.

It's also engineered to withstand the elements, which means it can be used by explorers who need to stay days away from a power source. A full charge lasts about 8 to 10 hours and WeWi plans to launch it first in Ghana at a price of US$ 300-400.

3D Printed Plaster Cast

3D printing can solve one of the most common problems that people with broken bones face — itchy plaster casts. Since each cast is 3D printed individually, it can be precision engineered for the exact contours of the wearer's hand/foot.

Not only does this provide more support, the cast itself is waterproof and can be quite sleek. The cast is stronger (with thinner holes) near the affected bone - the cast shown here is specific to a wrist fracture.

Facebook updates costlier in New York for a Girl in UK

A schoolgirl ran up a £3,800 mobile phone bill on holiday in America by posting Facebook updates.
Casey Snook, 14, used the website to post updates about her dream holiday to New York with her mum.
She eagerly told friends about her trip to the Empire State Building, Central Park and Times Square and uploaded a series of pictures with her iPhone.
But she was unaware of the massive bill until her father's bank account - which funded the phone - suddenly went overdrawn after the holiday.

Phone company Orange said she ran up the charges by using Facebook with data roaming - a service which enables internet access abroad.
Mrs Snook, 43, a catering assistant, accused the company of 'extortion'.
She said: 'When I heard about it I felt physically sick. Casey was very upset and embarrassed and I was in tears.
'I can't believe that a company would let a bill which is usually £50 get up to that level.  Did they not worry the phone had been stolen?
'She was only using it for the normal teenage stuff, updating her friends with what she was up to and this and that.

'It was an experience - we visited the Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central Station and the Whispering Wall.  She was just using Facebook like a normal teenager to tell her friends.'
Casey, of Hengrove, Bristol, jetted off to the Big Apple with her mum on May 27.
Four days into the trip the teenager received a text from Orange warning she had gone over her internet data limit - and her bill had gone from its usual £50 to £320.
The company barred the teen from sending any more text messages or making calls - but did not block her data roaming.
Mrs Snook told Casey to stop using her phone until they returned to the UK in two days time.
But once the family returned home Mrs Snook received a phone call from Casey's dad Victor, who pays the bill, to say his bank had told him he was overdrawn.

Orange insists it sent a number of warning texts to Casey to say she had exceeded her data usage.
The firm also says it sent a message to Casey asking if she wanted to continue to use data after she had gone over her limit - and she clicked 'yes'.
But her parents are calling for an explanation as to why no further warnings were sent after the text message explaining the bill would be £320.
Mrs Snook said her daughter does not remember this, and believes many people would not understand the implications of continuing to use their phone.
'To be honest, I wouldn't understand what a data cap was, and I don't think a lot of teenagers would,' she said.
'This is about the extortion of a 14-year-old, and Orange is completely refusing to budge on the bill.

'The rates that are charged are ridiculous and I just don't understand why another message wasn't sent after the one that said the bill had reached £320. Why wasn't one sent at £500 or £1,000?
'We are just going to have to pay it. I'm going to give her dad half of the money, but neither of us can afford it.'
A spokeswoman for Orange said: 'All Orange customers have a number of protections in place - customers are even automatically opted-in to a roaming data cap, which limits their charges to £49 for a set amount of data.
'Customers receive warning texts to alert them of their data usage and we have an app that helps them monitor data usage, and opt-in to a data bundle if needed.
'In this instance the customer received numerous text alerts which updated them on the roaming costs for the USA, and also updated them on their data usage.
'Once they had reached the limit of their data bundle, the customer actively opted out of our roaming data cap so that they could continue to use data, effectively removing the in-built protection from large data roaming bills.'

Ipanema - The World Sexiest Beach in the world

Ipanema Beach is famously known for its elegance and social qualities. Two mountains called the "Dois
Irmãos" (Two Brothers) rise at the western end of the beach. The beach is divided into segments by marks known as "postos" (lifeguard towers). Beer is sold everywhere on the beach along with the traditional cachaça. There are always circles of people playing football, volleyball, and footvolley, a locally invented sport that is a combination of volleyball and football.

In the winter the surf can reach 9 feet. The water quality varies with days of light-blue water to a more murky green after heavy rains. Constant swells keep the water clean. The often treacherous beach break regularly forms barrels.

Just west of this colorful section and towards Leblon is another popular stretch of sand known as Posto 10 (10th lifeguard tower) where young and often beautiful carioca men and women hipsters congregate.

The Travel Channel listed Ipanema Beach as the sexiest beach in the world. A wonderful place isn`t it?

The Maury Island UFO Incident 2013 Explained

The mysteries behind many UFO sightings may never be explained, but what happened over Puget Sound on June 21, 1947 is a mystery that's getting new life in a film.

It's a complex story with many facets, but it that can be summarized like this: At 2 p.m., Harold Dahl was on a fishing boat salvaging logs with his young son when he said he saw six flying discs appear above him over the water.

One of the donut-shaped discs appeared to be in trouble and dropped what appeared to be tons of a hot molten substance in the water and the beach. As the story goes, the heat and debris killed his dog and burned his son.

Days later he was visited by a mysterious "man in black," who told him not to talk about what he saw. He was then visited by two Air Force investigators who were on a classified mission to see him and gather evidence. On the investigators' return to a California airbase, the B-25 they were piloting crashed, killing both of them and destroying whatever evidence they were carrying. The FBI closed the case without any resolution.

It's known as the Maury Island Incident.

"They are just many unanswered questions and that makes it an intriguing mystery and maybe a solvable mystery, we don't know," said Philip Lipson, Co-director of the Northwest Museum of Legends and Lore.

Lipson and the museum's other co-director, Charlette LaFevre have been investigating the incident for the last 10 years.

What makes the Maury Island Incident significant in UFO lore is its timing. It happened three days before pilot Ken Arnold's famous sighting of "flying saucers" over Mt. Rainier.

The media called Arnold's account of what appeared to be disc's skipping across sky as flying saucers and that's where the term first originated.

Two weeks after Dahl's sighting came Roswell, which is arguably the most famous claim of an alien crash landing on earth. After that, the floodgates of UFO sightings opened wide as it seem everyone had a story to tell. But to UFO buffs, the Maury Island Incident started it all.

"It's not promoted like Roswell but I always say it's the Roswell of the northwest," LeFevre said.

Seattle's Northwest Museum of Legend and Lore has a collection dedicated to the incident, including a piece said to be from the B-25 that crashed new Kelso Washington on August 1.

That date also has some significance as it was the first day the Air Force separated from the Army and became a branch of the armed services. The crash is considered the first Air Force Crash ever.

KIM Kardashian hires night nurse so she can get her beauty sleep

KIM Kardashian has ensured she won’t be troubled by lack of sleep like most new mums – after hiring a nurse to care for her baby through the night, a report claims.
The reality TV star gave birth to North – her first child with partner Kanye West – last month.
And while she has been immersing herself in all aspects of motherhood, as well as a gruelling fitness regime to get back into shape, she draws the line at sleep deprivation, RadarOnline insists.
A source told the website: “Sleep is very, very important to Kim. Without eight to 10 hours, she just can’t function.
“Kim wants to be well rested so she can be the best possible mom to North, and feels if she is sleep deprived, that isn’t going to happen.
“Kim and Kanye’s night nurse sleeps in the nursery with Nori, and if she needs a diaper change, a feeding, or just be soothed, it’s the hired help that is taking care of the baby.
“Kim is treasuring the time of being a new mom, and wants to enjoy it as much as possible, without being sleep deprived.
Kim and Kanye have faced criticism for giving their daughter the odd name.
But Kim's mum Kris Jenner insists the wacky baby name was a 'joint decision' and one she approves of.
She said: "I think it was a joint decision. They did it together ... I stayed out of that one."
Kris continued: "North is the highest power. And their baby North, their little girl, is the highest point and power between the two of them. So I thought that was really cool. When a baby's born and you give it a name and you're really sure about it ... that's just going to be that baby's energy. So I'm excited."
Kris has previously hinted baby North may debut on her new daytime talk show Kris which airs on July 15.
She said: "I think you're just going to have to wait and see and tune in, because I'm not sure exactly what's going happen.
"I won't tell you it won't happen. (I'll) give you a little something to think about. You never know who's going to show up."

PREGNANT Duchess of Cambridge enjoying hot spicy Indian meals

Kate has developed a craving for Indian food which has been said to trigger labour.
The meals are made for Kate - who is due on July 15 - at a shop in her family’s village in Berkshire.
It comes as new research by JustEat revealed that 39 per cent of couples have tried a curry to speed up the birth of their child.

Shop owner Chan Shingadia, who runs the Berkshire convenience store with wife Hash, said: “My wife was cooking. Kate said it smelled lovely.”
Mrs Shingadia added: “She said she had a craving so I made her a big batch to take away with rice and flatbreads.”

The study of expectant couples’ eating habits also highlighted that in more than half (58 per cent) of cases it was during a first pregnancy that couples turned to spicy curry.
The dish most hotly-tipped by pregnant Brits was a vindaloo, which came above madras, jalfrezi and masala curries in the poll.

Osama bin Laden was stopped for speeding in car while on run in Pakistan

The hunt for Osama bin Laden might have ended eight years earlier had a Pakistani traffic policeman spotted the world’s most wanted man in a car he had stopped for speeding
The extraordinary revelation is made by Pakistan’s official investigation, obtained last night by Al Jazeera, into how bin Laden managed to live undetected in the country for almost a decade.
In its report, the Abbottabad Commission concluded that Pakistan’s military and government missed numerous opportunities to close in on the world’s most wanted man.
They may have come closest when the al-Qaeda leader was living in the Swat Valley during 2002 and 2003.

According to the testimony of Maryam, the wife of Ibrahim al-Kuwaiti, on bin Laden’s two trusted bodyguards, they would make occasional visits to the local bazaar.
She told investigators that on one trip their car was pulled over for speeding by a policeman, but that her husband “quickly settled the matter”. Whether the police officer was paid off or simply failed to spot the notorious passenger is not explained

The investigation, set up after US Navy Seals killed bin Laden during a dramatic raid in 2011, delivers a scathing verdict on Pakistan’s efforts.
“Culpable negligence and incompetence at almost all levels of government can more or less be conclusively established,” it concludes.
It criticises the military for failing to spot either the CIA hunt for bin Laden inside Pakistan or the covert nighttime raid that saw four helicopters cross the border from Afghanistan undetected, apparently because the country’s radars focus on the threat from India.

The report also pours scorn on the failure of authorities to notice warning signs regarding bin Laden's compound. "How the entire neighbourhood, local officials, police and security and intelligence officials all missed the size, the strange shape, the barbed wire, the lack of cars and visitors etc over a period of nearly six years beggars belief," the report said.
Far from the whitewash many Pakistanis expected of an official investigation, it even calls on the country's leadership to formally apologise for its failings.
“This [was] a case of nothing less than a collective and sustained dereliction of duty by the political, military and intelligence leadership of the country,” it said.

Middle-class women who book SEX holidays

The term once described sleazy trips to the back streets of Bangkok, but now sex trips are being rebranded as posh breaks for “sophisticated professionals” to indulge their fantasies.
Couples and singles are flooding into hotels, which promise swinging parties, erotic floor shows and bedrooms with mirrored ceilings.
Plush places in Jamaica, Mexico and Lanzarote are openly marketing themselves as adult-only resorts, where anything under the sun goes — even romps on loungers by the pool in full view of other guests.
And a growing number of women are unapologetically visiting these locations for sex.
Divorcee Joanne Jones, 42, from Falmouth in Cornwall, is hoping to go to one of the resorts in the Caribbean or Mexico this summer.
Joanne, who is currently single and has two children, says: “I’m quite happy to say that I go on holiday looking for sex.
“I enjoy kinky sex with strangers, and holidays are the perfect place to find a new partner and do something you’d never do at home.
“The sun is shining, you have a fabulous time, and you can leave all your inhibitions at home.”

Joanne, who runs a company selling discount laptop computers, has holidayed in adults-only resorts in Greece and Cyprus.
And she relishes the opportunity to lose her inhibitions.
She said: “I love the fact that no one knows who you are.
‘I work hard all year – why shouldn’t I treat myself?’
“I work hard all year, ten- to 15 -hour days, and this is my way of letting my hair down.
“My favourites are Cypriot guys, because they go with anyone and are not afraid to experiment.
“I want sex with no strings attached, and I always practice safe sex with condoms so I am not worried about my sexual health.
“I’m a businesswoman, I make my own money — and why shouldn’t I treat myself?”
Joanne reveals that it doesn’t take long to find an obliging partner.
“I pick up men in bars at the hotels. They are there looking for sex too, and if you are on a nudist beach you know what to expect.
“All I have to do is stand there, and I get approached. It usually only takes about half an hour for a guy to come over.
“In my most recent encounter, I met a guy called Michael, a Cypriot.
“We got chatting, had a meal, and the next thing I knew he was whisking me out of the hotel for a weekend at his house in Limassol.
“That’s the thing about sex holidays — you never know what is going to happen next. The sex was amazing — we were at it all weekend. He knew why I was there and there was no pretending.
“I don’t want to be in a relationship, and if you go abroad looking for sex, there are no ties.
“At the end of the weekend, he dropped me back at my hotel and we said goodbye without any regrets.”
Mary Richardson*, 44, from Chester, is another sex trip regular — despite being married.

The lingerie business boss said: “I first went three years ago with a girlfriend for a giggle. We went to a hotel in Cancun in Mexico.
“My husband knew we were going on holiday, but had no idea what type of hotel it was.
“He thought we were just going to sunbathe and drink rose by the pool. I’m no prude but I was really shocked by how far people were willing to go — but by the third day I was joining in.
“I am much more sexually adventurous than my husband, and our sex life is pretty dull.
“I ventured into the ‘au naturel’ area — the nude swimming pool — and after a few drinks I took everything off.
“I was approached by a couple around my own age, and then we retired to their bedroom and really got swinging.
“The sex was amazing. After that I started to be much more open in front of other people too, and walk around in just a thong. I had at least six pretty explicit encounters with women and men — and it was so exciting. I loved it so much I went back last year and I’m planning another trip.
“It’s like one long sex-filled party. Most of the people there were either Brits or Americans, with some Germans too.”

Neil Henderson runs Dare2Travel, the UK’s market leader in adult-only sex holidays.
He reveals that most of his bookings are made by COUPLES.
He said: “We organise holidays to the Hedonism resorts in Jamaica, and the Desire ones in Mexico.
“Most of our clients are couples, and often they are swingers.
“Just this week I had a call from a man booking a holiday for himself and two girls — he was obviously out to have fun. These holidays have been selling like hot cakes for eight or nine years and I have noticed a definite increase.
“People want to have a sexy time on holiday and expand their horizons. Most of the hotels offer a calendar of events, with sex shows and audience participation.
“If you go to one of these resorts, you need to know what to expect.
“January tends to be swinging time then, in the summer, you get more singles holidaying there.
“The resorts are four or five-star, and offer amazing surroundings and great food — you don’t have to participate in the sexy fun and frolics if you don’t want to.”
Most of Neil’s clients are in their 30s or 40s — and some are even booking in for a sex trip on their honeymoon.
He said: “You’d be amazed how many people go to sex resorts for their honeymoon or anniversaries. We even cater for naked weddings — couples go with their guests.
“The hotels will run theme nights such as ‘sexy pirates’ or fetish wear, and things can then get pretty steamy in the big Jacuzzi.”
Prices for a week’s holiday range from around £1,300 up to £2,000, with five-star facilities.
‘100 naked bodies party in Jacuzzi’ In 2010, the holiday group Spice opened up a sex destination in Lanzarote.
Their trips have proved so popular, that they are already booked up for most of NEXT year, according to the firm’s Tracy Istid.

She said: “Since opening Spice Lanzarote we have seen a massive rise in our bookings and enquiries year-on-year to the point where all our events get fully booked and already we are near capacity for much of 2014.
“People are looking for a more sophisticated sense of debauchery, and we get a broad spectrum of couples.
“Most are high achievers from the private and public sector, and they’re looking for an alternative fantasy.
“Many have reached a point in their relationship when they want to experiment sexually.
“All our staff go beyond the realms of normal hospitality, providing a platform where you are free to indulge your fantasies.
“It’s a very private and safe place, where we might have 100 naked bodies partying in the giant Jacuzzi together.
“It’s a long way from a seedy lock-up in a car park in Basildon!”
But not everyone is keen to join in the action on sex holidays. Rochelle Peachey and husband Phil, both 48, were shocked by their visit to the Hedonism resort in Jamaica.
Rochelle, who runs dating agency iloveyouraccent.com, said: “Phil and I went for a laugh, because the things you see are absolutely mind-blowing. You wouldn’t believe what goes on.
“I saw women performing oral sex on men, couples openly having sex and swinging sessions. No one is embarrassed — that’s what you are there for, and anything goes.
“You can get a night pass to the hotel from other ‘normal’ hotels in the area, and the evening entertainment is raunchy to say the least.
“On the stage, for example, there’ll be a pole-dancing act, and then they invite other people up to take part.
“It was titillating but there was no way we’d join in the group sex.”

HORRIFYING video footage a doomed passenger jet crashed in San Francisco

Planespotter Fred Hayes was filming as the Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 from Seoul crashed short of the runway then cartwheeled up on its nose before finally coming to a halt in a cloud of dust and debris.
He can be heard saying: "Oh, my God. Oh, Lord have mercy!" as he witnessed the smash from a mile away on the other side of the bay.
Hayes, who was visiting the city with his wife, told how a "thunder-like" boom rang across the bay when the 200-ton jet slammed into the ground.

He said: "When I caught the plane coming into view, everything looked fine at first until I kind of fixed my gaze on him, and I seen his nose up in the air.
"And then I just totally locked on him. I thought he was going to take off and go up, and then he just kept going down."
Two teenage girls were killed, but miraculously the other 305 people on board survived — though more than a hundred were hurt and 49 were today said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

The new video emerged online as it was revealed by aviation officials that one of the pilots was a TRAINEE who had just 43 hours' experience flying the 777.
And reports in the US claimed one of the Chinese teenagers who was found dead in the wreckage may have actually survived the crash - only to be tragically killed by one of the fire engines and ambulances rushing to the rescue site.
Witnesses said dozens of survivors ran from the chaotic crash site after escaping down emergency slides.

Post mortem tests are underway to determine how the victims died, but officials said there were signs one girl may have been run over.
Fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said: "One of the deceased did have injuries consistent with those of having been run over by a vehicle. Many agencies were on the field yesterday."
The two dead girls were named as Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia, both 16, from Jiangshan in eastern China.
They were part of a group of 70 Chinese students and teachers on their way to a summer camp in the US.

Air safety investigators, who are examining the black box flight recorders, revealed the pilots tried to abort their landing just 1.4 seconds before impact.
Witnesses said it appeared to be flying too low and too slowly as it approached the airport and clipped the sea wall before the runway, leaving a trail of debris as the tail and landing gear were ripped off.
The wreckage burst into flames, leaving a large section of fuselage burnt out.

Pope tells priests to buy 'humble' cars

Pope Francis said on Saturday it pained him to see priests driving flashy cars, and told them to pick something more "humble".

As part of his drive to make the Catholic Church more austere and focus on the poor, Francis told young and trainee priests and nuns from around the world that having the latest smartphone or fashion accessory was not the route to happiness.

"It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can't do this," he said.

"A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world," he said.

Since succeeding Pope Benedict in March, the former cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina has eschewed some of the more ostentatious trappings of his office and has chosen to live in a Vatican guest house rather than the opulent papal apartments.

The ANSA news agency said the pope's car of choice for moving around the walled Vatican City was a compact Ford Focus.

What sort of person will the royal baby grow up to be

The royal baby has yet to arrive but that hasn't stopped royal fans and commentators discussing what kind of future awaits the new heir to the throne. Here we look into the backgrounds of the parents-to-be to do some speculating of our own.
The birth
The royal baby will be born in the private Lindo wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, with Kate opting for a natural birth, unless nature intervenes. She is reported to have looked into hypnobirthing. This practice involves hypnotherapy to take away some of the fear, tension and pain of childbirth.
It's no coincidence that William and brother Harry, were both born at St Mary's. It appears Kate is in very good hands.
The Duchess will be tended by a top medical team led by the Queen's former gynaecologist Marcus Setchell, who delivered the Countess of Wessex's two children.
He will be assisted by Alan Farthing, the former fiance of murdered TV presenter Jill Dando and the Queen's current gynaecologist.
William is expected to be at his wife's bedside.
Fully refurbished last year, the Lindo wing is described as providing "leading private obstetric and neonatal care for 60 years". It has private en suite rooms with deluxe rooms and suites also available.

Fully refurbished last year, the Lindo wing is described as providing "leading private obstetric and neonatal care for 60 years". It has private en suite rooms with deluxe rooms and suites also available.

The name
Alexandra, Elizabeth and Diana are bookies’ favourites for a girl and George, Philip and Arthur are popular guesses for a boy.
Where they will live
Kate is expected to live at her parents’ house in Bucklebury, Berkshire for at least the first six weeks after the baby is born. Carole and Michael Middleton will be on hand to offer help and support to the new mum. The Middletons are well-practised in childcare having brought up three children. Their home will be a comfortable location for Kate to adjust to her new role.
For the longer term Kate and William are making arrangements to move into their newly renovated apartment – the former home of Princess Margaret - in Kensington Palace.
Childhood
Prince William was brought up in Kensington Palace and had various nannies whom he was very fond of. However, despite the trappings of royalty, Princess Diana was determined to give him as ‘normal’ a childhood as possible with trips to McDonald's and theme parks. She was also regularly seen dropping him off at the school gates and was once praised for making her children wait in a queue to see Father Christmas rather than jumping straight to the front.
William also had to cope with very sad life events at a young age. His mother was deeply unhappy in her marriage to Prince Charles, with the pair eventually separating. Then, of course, there was the tragic death of Diana when William was still a teenager.

Meanwhile, Kate had a middle-class upbringing with her family in Berkshire, although she did live in Jordan for two years from the age of two when her father worked out there. Her father was a flight dispatcher and her mother an air hostess, but the couple are now self-made millionaires after setting up a mail order company selling children’s party paraphernalia.
Despite the difficulties in his childhood, William still grew up in a loving family environment and so did Kate. Princess Diana was a very hands-on, affectionate mum and Kate is very close to her parents and siblings, turning to them for support.
Taking a leaf out of their parents’ book, it’s more than likely William and Kate will try to give their baby a happy, carefree childhood, endeavouring to make it as ‘normal’ as possible. Although living in luxurious surroundings, it’s thought they will create a caring and practical home environment. They won't think twice about changing nappies, getting up in the night and putting their baby to bed. The couple appear to have a very stable, caring relationship and will work as a team in bringing up their child.
They may eventually employ a nanny to help out when they are busy with Royal engagements but Kate’s parents will also play an important part in the childcare. The Queen and wider Royal family will undoubtedly be a big influence on the child - advising, supporting and guiding where necessary.
Schooling
Speculation is rife about which school the Royal baby will attend. Both William and Kate went to some of the country’s top public schools.
William attended Mrs Mynor's Nursery, Wetherby School in London and Ludgrove School in his early years. By tradition royal children go to Gordonstoun but it is well documented that Prince Charles was unhappy there. William instead followed in his mother’s family’s footsteps and sat the entrance exam for Eton where he was admitted.
He is said to have enjoyed his time at Eton, making a good solid group of friends and participating in sports including water polo and football. William studied Geography, Biology and History of Art at A-level and achieved good grades.
Meanwhile Kate attended St Andrew’s prep school, Down House and Marlborough College where she achieved high results and was a keen sportswoman.

However, the new parents may choose not to send the baby to any of the schools they attended, instead opting to follow in the footsteps of other high profile figures.
Acorn Nursery in Notting Hill is a good bet. It's regarded as one of the country’s most exclusive kindergartens and is not far from their Kensington base. Among the past and present pupils are the offspring of Jeremy Paxman, Jade Jagger and the stepchildren of Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer.
St Mary Abbots in Kensington could be another choice and it would certainly go down well with the public as it is a free school. David and Samantha Cameron send their children there.
Before choosing a school, William and Kate may wait to find out the personality of their child to make sure they pick the best fit.
University
Both William and Kate took gap years before attending university and both ended up working in Chile for some of the time. Following that, they both went to St Andrews University in Scotland.
It is likely the couple would be delighted if their offspring decided to follow them to St Andrews and it would bring back a lot of memories for them. We all know the story of how they met. The pair spent a very happy time together at St Andrews, getting involved in university life and sharing a flat.
William graduated with a degree in Geography while Kate completed a History of Art degree.
Later, when returning to the university on a royal engagement, William made a speech, where he is reported to have said: "This is a special moment for Catherine and me. It feels like coming home."
The University certainly has experience of creating a safe and private environment for a future heir to the throne so this wouldn’t be a bad choice.
Prince Charles was actually the first member of the Royal family to obtain a degree. He went to Trinity College Cambridge to study Anthropology and Archaeology.
Career
The royal offspring’s choice of career will be an interesting one. Kate worked for her parents’ business after graduating and also had a job as a junior buyer for the clothing company Jigsaw. The baby may inherit the Middleton family’s entrepreneurial spirit and their maternal grandparents will be a significant influence on the child. After graduating from university, Prince William joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an Officer Cadet.
