Planespotter Fred Hayes was filming as the Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 from Seoul crashed short of the runway then cartwheeled up on its nose before finally coming to a halt in a cloud of dust and debris.
He can be heard saying: "Oh, my God. Oh, Lord have mercy!" as he witnessed the smash from a mile away on the other side of the bay.
Hayes, who was visiting the city with his wife, told how a "thunder-like" boom rang across the bay when the 200-ton jet slammed into the ground.
He said: "When I caught the plane coming into view, everything looked fine at first until I kind of fixed my gaze on him, and I seen his nose up in the air.
"And then I just totally locked on him. I thought he was going to take off and go up, and then he just kept going down."
Two teenage girls were killed, but miraculously the other 305 people on board survived — though more than a hundred were hurt and 49 were today said to be in a critical condition in hospital.
The new video emerged online as it was revealed by aviation officials that one of the pilots was a TRAINEE who had just 43 hours' experience flying the 777.
And reports in the US claimed one of the Chinese teenagers who was found dead in the wreckage may have actually survived the crash - only to be tragically killed by one of the fire engines and ambulances rushing to the rescue site.
Witnesses said dozens of survivors ran from the chaotic crash site after escaping down emergency slides.
Post mortem tests are underway to determine how the victims died, but officials said there were signs one girl may have been run over.
Fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said: "One of the deceased did have injuries consistent with those of having been run over by a vehicle. Many agencies were on the field yesterday."
The two dead girls were named as Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia, both 16, from Jiangshan in eastern China.
They were part of a group of 70 Chinese students and teachers on their way to a summer camp in the US.
Air safety investigators, who are examining the black box flight recorders, revealed the pilots tried to abort their landing just 1.4 seconds before impact.
Witnesses said it appeared to be flying too low and too slowly as it approached the airport and clipped the sea wall before the runway, leaving a trail of debris as the tail and landing gear were ripped off.
The wreckage burst into flames, leaving a large section of fuselage burnt out.
